Water Awakenings

Events connecting people and water knowledge across cultures:
music, guest speakers, feature films, dance and more…

What are Water Awakenings?

In 2019 a handful of Byron Bay members of the Native Water collective founded Water Awakenings, with the intention of bringing people together through appreciation of water via talks, music, dance and ceremony.

Native Water events have connected people more intimately to water, each other, both ancient and modern knowledge, and Indigenous wisdom from various cultures around the world. We have raised funds for both local and Brazilian native communities, water activists and emergency services and we intend to continue and expand this work globally as our water tribe grows.

To date we’ve hosted four Water Awakenings, featuring artists including Whaia Whaea, Murray Kyle, Arterium, Elders from around Australia and other water appreciating musicians, artists and speakers.

In the future we will host Water Awakenings around the world, helping to connect people more deeply with water, native wisdom, the elements and their inner selves.
